LOWER PRA RURAL BANK
- ABOADZE
The Aboadze is a settler
community of about five
thousand inhabitant. It
is about 12 km from the
bank’s head office at
Shama. The main economic
activity of the people
of Aboadze is fishing.
Aboadze is also the home
to VRA thermal plant and
the West African Gas
Pipeline installations.
The bank’s branch was
established in 1985 in a
single room structure in
the middle of the town
but in 1999 the bank
moved into its own
premises at the outskirt
of the town nearer to
the VRA plant.
The bank has contributed
in the uplifting of the
living standards of the
fishing folks by making
available to them
microfinance loans which
has resulted in some of
the fishmongers
acquiring gas smokers to
smoke their fish thus
helping to save their
environment.
