LOWER PRA RURAL BANK - ESSIKADO

Located in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis about 20 km from the head office the bank at Essikado serves Ngyiresia, Sekondi, Essipon, Bakado and Mempeasem communities in addition to JCM and Essikado township. The main occupation of the Essikado catchment area is fishing.  There are landing beaches at both Sekondi and Ngyiresia.  The main occupation of the people of Bakado is oil processing.

All these communities have enjoyed the microfinance facility and other products of the bank. In 2007 the bank provided 35 Yahama outboard motors to the Ngyiresia fishing and this has endeared the bank to the community. Schools within the catchment area have enjoyed the support of the bank through the provision of pupils’ desk, library books among others. The Ghana naval school at Sekondi was also a recipient of the desk from the bank.

The bank has contributed in the uplifting of the living standards of the fishing folks by making available to them microfinance loans which has resulted in some of the fishmongers acquiring gas smokers to smoke their fish thus helping to save their environment.
