LOWER PRA RURAL BANK
- MPOHOR
Mpohor is the second
largest town is the
Mpohor Wassa East
District Assembly (MWEDA)
after its District
Capital, Daboase. The
Mpohor branch of the
Lower Pra Bank was
closed down in December,
2000 following the lack
of interest by the
community in patronizing
the bank.
After persistent appeals
by some opinion leaders
and with improvement in
some infrastructure such
as road and electricity
and with commercial
activities picking up
gradually, management
decided to reopen the
branch.
On the 29th of April,
2009 the Mpohor branch
was reopened and is
being operated from the
old rented premises.
The people in the
catchment area are
mostly farmers and there
are three major agro
basesed industries in
the area. These are
Ayiem Oil Mills, Benso
Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP)
and Norpalm Ghana
Limited (Norpalm). All
these three companies
engage in Palm Oil
Plantation and
extraction of Palm Oil
for soap making by
industries such as
Unilever Ghana Limited
etc.
Since the branch was
reopened the people in
the catchment area are
now patronising the
bank. The branch since
its reopening has
granted advances to both
individual and
enterprises and the
salary workers in around
the catchment area who
hither to travelled a
long distance before
collecting their
salaries.
